The Banded Snake Eel is broadly banded with black and white, sometimes with blotches which helps it resembles the venomous sea snake.
The Banded Snake Eel are found in sandy areas of reef flats, lagoons, and seaward reefs, living buried in the sand. An aquarium with a 2 inch fine gravel bed will allow the eel to bury itself.
They feed on small fishes, crustaceans and polychaete worms, however they will not harm any corals.
