Juvenile Big Eyes are shy and prone to hiding when the aquarist is near the aquarium. In contrast the adults are bold and will spend most of their time the open water. This is a voracious carnivore with a large mouth capable of ingesting large prey items. Smaller fish and ornamental crustaceans are certainly not safe, however they will not harm coral.
They are a solitary species, so only one should be kept in the aquarium. They are best kept with other large peaceful fish such as Frogfish, Scorpionfish, Comets, Batfish, Goatfish and Butterflyfish.
