The Blue Line Grouper body varies in overall colour from olive green to dark brown or light red with multiple vertical blue lines. The fins are highlighted with dark blue.
A larger aquarium with plenty of live rock over hangs and caves is required due to its size, shy nature and feeding habits. They can be an extremely aggressive fish that should not be kept with other Grouper species and may eat its smaller tank mates as well as crustaceans, However they will not harm corals.
The Blue Line Grouper prefers a diet of meaty foods such as krill, shrimp, and other small fish.
