The Cave Basslet has an elongated body of pinkish or redish grey with a yellow stripe running from the tip of the snout to the eye, a blue ringed black spot on the dorsal and anal fin, and both a black band and white band on the caudial fin margin.
An excellent reef-dwelling fish, the Cave Basslet may only pose a threat to smaller, ornamental crustaceans. Best kept singly in an aquarium without any other Basslets.
As a carnivore, the Cave Basslet will thrive on a diet of meaty foods including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and quality frozen preparations.
