Red Sea Racoon Butterflyfish

The Red Sea Racoon Butterflyfish is yellow-orange, darker on the upper half of its body, and has a black patch around its eyes. It has dark diagonal lines across its body. It is a peaceful fish and may reside in an aquarium with other butterflyfish. It should not be put into a reef tank environment because it will eat invertebrates. Feed the Red Sea Raccoon Butterflyfish a varied diet of meaty foods, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and frozen preparations. This species can be mistaken for the Racoon Butterflyfish (C.lunula), the Red Sea Racoon Butterflyfish differs in lacking a black spot on the caudal fin base and the yellow diagonal stripes behind the head, as well as having fewer slanting stripes not the sides of the body.
