The Spotted Snake Eel has pale cream in colour with variable pattern of large and small black spots with narrower white interspaces.

The Spotted Snake Eel are found in sandy areas of reef flats, lagoons, and seaward reefs, living buried in the sand. An aquarium with a 2 inch fine gravel bed will allow the eel to bury itself.

They feed on small fishes, crustaceans and polychaete worms, however they will not harm any corals.
