Three Banded Butterflyfish
You will earn 85 Points

The Three Banded Butterflyfish is a rare and elusive species due to its limited collection area on the southern coasts of Africa, and lives singly or in pairs. With a broad body shape and distinct colouration, this marine fish has a lot of visual appeal. Its body is a shimmering white colour with areas that contain overtones of light yellow. Three vertical bands of dark brown display equidistant across its body, with the first one appearing to run through its eyes. The caudal fin is transparent with tints of brown and the other fins are mostly yellow. Though generally peaceful, it may harass similar looking fish.
This Butterflyfish enjoys swimming, so it should be provided enough room to do so. A well cycled marine aquarium with live rock should provide it with areas to hide and some algae growth on which to feed.
An omnivore of the Chaetodontidae family, it will nibble on corals and inverts so is best suited for a Fish Only With Live Rock aquarium. In addition to the algae on which it grazes, it should be fed a variety of meaty shrimp or crustacean food as well as seaweed or algae based foods.
