The Tiger Damsel is a bold and brilliant black and white damselfish species.
The Tiger damsel looks like the related Humbug Damsel of the genus Dascyllus except this species belongs to a whole different genus and is much brighter white in colouration than the Humbug damsel.
Tiger Damsel are an awesome aquarium fish, not nearly as aggressive as most damselfish species with an average disposition for a Chrysiptera species.
Two features which distinguish the Tiger Damsel are its pelvic fins and its snout. The huge black pelvic fins, which when flared really give it a superficial resemblance to the Banggai Cardinal and a thin black stripe across the snout.
